Modernizing System Design with Data Pipelines, Modern Analytics and AI

Pure Storage engineering team has invested heavily in automating testing and integration which helps us bring disruptive NVMe storage products to market faster. We have learnt many lessons designing distributed systems using opensource technologies like Spark, Kafka, ElasticSearch, and TensorFlow to create workflows which provide faster streaming ingestion, data analytics, and enable machine learning applications. We have deployed a streaming big data analytics pipeline that processes over 70 billion events per day that prioritize, classify, deduplicate, and understand test failures. The efficiency, scale, and flexibility of these systems are critically important to improving Pure’s time to value in a competitive market. We see customers across all industries leveraging these same tools and technologies to accelerate and modernize their own data flows/systems/applications.

For the first half of this 90 minute workshop, we will discuss lessons learned from applying Pure’s next generation storage to our own Data Pipeline used for product development.

In the second half, we will share lessons learned from making AI initiatives successful in a broad range of uses cases such as AI supercomputers and autonomous driving software.

Bio:
Joshua Robinson is a Founding Engineer on the FlashBlade team and is currently leading the development of advanced analytics and AI architectures. He spent 3.5 years on the core development team architecting and building the FlashBlade from the ground­up. Prior to Pure, Joshua worked as a data scientist in the search infrastructure team at Google, building and running data pipelines and machine­learning algorithms for indexing the Internet. Joshua graduated with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University in 2009 with a focus on machine learning and algorithms. Joshua Robinson's Linkedin Profile
