Market Leader Pure Storage Expands into Australia and New Zealand with Veteran Leadership Team

Local customers, partners look to fastest growing storage company for resiliency, scalability, efficiency and performance of flash

vFORUM - SYDNEY, Aust. – 22 October, 2013 — Pure Storage, the all-flash enterprise storage array company, today announced its expansion into the Australia and New Zealand markets with the official opening of its Sydney and Melbourne offices. To lead the local expansion, Pure has appointed enterprise technology veteran Nigel Peach as Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand. Pure Storage has already succeeded in signing multiple customers and business partners in the region, including Harbour ISP, a National Broadband Network (NBN) service provider.

Charles Tym, Co-founder of Harbour ISP, sees great potential in Pure Storage’s efficient use of flash memory for tier 1 workloads. “Pure Storage has created a revolutionary solution that changes how people think about enterprise storage. Not only does it offer the speed and density of flash, but the enterprise reliability and cost that users just don't expect from flash today,” Tym said.

Pure Storage President David Hatfield said the company’s decision to expand into ANZ had been driven by the fact that Australia and New Zealand are two of the most virtualised enterprise markets in the world. Paired with the markets’ willingness to adopt new technology faster than other regions, it was a natural step for Pure to expand its presence here. “Businesses in ANZ with virtualised workloads will experience sharp improvements in both cost and performance by deploying FlashArray,” Hatfield said.

Pure Storage has signed Observatory Crest as the distributor across Australia and New Zealand, and a number of reseller business partners across Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland as part of its partner network.

Overseeing local operations will be newly appointed Country Manager – ANZ, Nigel Peach, who brings with him 25 years in senior managerial roles in some of the world’s most recognised data storage, business analytics and IT companies. Peach will be responsible for driving the growth of Pure Storage’s customer base and raising market awareness of flash storage technology and its benefits to businesses.

“We’re delighted to have Nigel Peach leading our efforts in ANZ,” said Hatfield. “His dedication to customers and their requirements is well-aligned to Pure Storage as a whole and his expertise in the local market will help us meet those requirements successfully.”

Globally, Pure Storage has attracted some of the industry’s most recognised talent to its ranks, announcing in September well-known data storage industry figure Vaughn Stewart had joined the company. Stewart is a recognised technology leader known for his technical contributions to the virtualisation community worldwide.

In August this year, Pure Storage announced a US$150 million funding round with top tier public market investors, marking the single largest private financing event in the history of the storage industry. This brought the company’s total investment to $245 million.

Now in its third generation release, Pure Storage’s flagship product FlashArray continues to deliver a ground-breaking storage experience designed to meet the rigorous resiliency, scalability, efficiency and performance requirements of enterprise clients in diverse markets, and for a variety of high performance workloads and applications, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), cloud computing, and database and server virtualisation. FlashArray was the industry’s first all-flash enterprise storage array to successfully drive the cost of flash memory below that of legacy spinning disk, delivering the innumerable benefits of all-flash at a price point the mainstream could afford.
