By opting for Pure Storage’s solutions, Chronopost has improved productivity and achieved a higher level of availability, even in the peak period before Christmas
Paris, June 14th, 2016 – Pure Storage (NYSE: PSTG), the market’s leading independent solid-state array vendor, announced that Chronopost, France’s leading express delivery service, has selected Pure Storage for its all-flash storage arrays. The new arrays are expected to double or even triple the carrier’s gains in performance, in particular during the peak period prior to the December holidays.
Everyday Chronopost must ensure that parcels are delivered on time.
The company elected to move to an all-flash environment to achieve expected gains in performance, while accommodating for easy future upgrades and an expected 20 percent annual growth in data. Overall, all-flash from Pure Storage has helped Chronopost significantly reduce the complexity of its operations, as well as cut operational costs.
Robert Radu, a project manager on Chronopost’s computer infrastructures team, conducted a benchmark testing across three competing solutions in conjunction with integrator, Antemeta.
“After the tests, Pure Storage emerged as the leading solution,” said Radu. “Moreover, the design of the arrays can handle increases in data volume without having to invest in more processing power. Chronopost handles a mix of cold and hot data, so it’s important to have the flexibility to easily increase storage capacity, at a minimal cost, and without investing in new controllers.”
After a rapid installation, the solution was tested during the weeks before Christmas 2015. Access times improved, permanently, to shorter than a millisecond. Database patches installed three times more quickly, and Chronopost’s web ecosystem performance increased by 20 percent, and a global data size reduced by 65%. Additionally, Pure Storage delivered a global reduction rate of three and a five-fold reduction in electricity consumption and floor space.
