Teraoka Seiko Decides to Implement Pure Storage FlashArray as Storage Base for Cloud Service

Implementing all-flash storage with an eye to future opportunities

Tokyo, Japan – October 25, 2016 — Pure Storage (NYSE:PSTG), the market’s leading independent solid-state array vendor, today announced that Teraoka Seiko has selected Pure Storage to support its mission critical cloud services. Compared to a conventional storage system, the data space requriements was reduced by 85 percent.

Teraoka Seiko designs innovative products in the measuring instrument and POS system fields. Teraoka Seiko uses a sales and service network that links 140 locations domestically and 150 countries worldwide to conduct business globally.

Teraoka Seiko provides high quality cloud services, which support shop operation and management. They have extensive experience in the retail, restaurant and the cleaning industries. However, to achieve further growth of its cloud business, Teraoka Seiko required a storage platform that provided both fast processing and stable operations allowing them to consolidate the existing cloud service storage base. Teraoka Seiko began the search for additional storage with help from Marubeni Information Systems, in summer of 2015 to provide better cloud services by eliminating bottle-neck issues in storage.

Teraoka Seiko initially was unsure of the reliability and performance of an all-flash storage infrastructure. However, after a through testing and verification process, Pure Storage showed high-performance in-line deduplication and compression and reduced data space requirement by 85 percent. Teraoka Seiko decided to implement Pure Storage not only for its product performance but also its operational simplicity and selected FlashArray. Implementation of the new infrastructure was completed in March 2016.

“Pure Storage doesn’t adopt RAID technology and it’s one of the biggest differentiators among other storage vendors. Pure Storage‘s focus on secured availability by implementing redundancy and data distribution architecture was key in our decision to implement Pure Storage FlashArray. Usually, storage is the most sensitive device for management but now we can manage storage without stress,” said Takahito Natsubori, architect of information service section, business service department of Teraoka Seiko.

“Pure Storage Japan appreciates that Teraoka Seiko chose Pure Storage FlashArray to provide high quality cloud services. We believe that Teraoka Seiko will continue to grow its business, increase productivity and drive customer satisfaction. Since Teraoka Seiko provides its cloud services on a Pure Storage FlashArray with high data reduction ratio and performance rates, the company can now provide enhanced storage efficiency to its customers in the retail sector, the restaurant business and the cleaning business.” said Hideki Yamada, country manager, Pure Storage Japan.

Teraoka Seiko eliminated any fears for unstable storage operation and realized stress-free storage operation by adopting Pure Storage. Teraoka Seiko is now looking to utilize this storage base for multiple purposes.
