While changes in licensing models have led to unanticipated cost increases, research from Enterprise Strategy Group, now Omdia, found that organizations are not necessarily motivated by cost when considering other hypervisors. Respondents to a recent survey revealed that when it comes to evaluating alternatives, the

two most cited concerns to address are compatibility with existing infrastructure and scalability. This points to organizations needing to consider the diversity of business and mission critical workloads to be supported going forward. Another concern is the rise of data intensive workloads.

While hyperconverged infrastructure or HCI enabled organizations to easily scale compute and storage by adding nodes, this approach doesn't work well when data requirements scale beyond what HCI nodes can provide alone without wasting computer resources. Selecting an alternative hypervisor must also enable simple and independent scaling of compute and storage resources individually.

Workloads leverage Nutanix AHV's virtualization security, disaster recovery, and operational simplicity. While EverPure provides the data services organizations need to store and protect their data. Omdia validated that organizations using NCP with EverPure can benefit from architectural flexibility.

This is important to note as NCP supports compute resources from Cisco, Dell Technologies, and HPE, three vendors with established footprints in numerous IT environments, thus no need to upgrade existing server hardware. By achieving API level integration of Nutanix and EverPure management tools, organizations don't need to use separate tools for operating and managing the compute, storage, and networking elements. But this approach complicates operations when needing to apply different policies to individual virtualized workloads.
