Customer Challenge:
To meet the needs of its customer base and support its own ambitious growth, EGP faced several challenges. Customers including Managed Service Providers (MSP) turn to EGP for their IT solutions and expect flexibility, high performance and reliability. EGP needed a platform that could handle massive amounts of data for its customers without a drop in performance. Scaling up and down to meet fluctuating demands brought further challenges around capacity planning and sustainability. In addition, bottlenecks in delivering information to customers in a timely manner underscored the need for a more adaptable infrastructure.
One of EGP's customers is AI-InfraSolutions, a company that has developed an AI platform to make the most of geodata. It has 25 mobile mapping cars in the Netherlands, capturing petabytes of data annually. Its mission is to enable professionals to use digital insights to structurally improve outdoor space and make it safer in a sustainable way. To this end, an advanced system has been developed to refine and publish the data, AI models to recognise characteristics of objects and a “Spatial Studio” to deploy all that information and insights in a user-friendly way. Processing the massive amounts of geodata posed a major challenge due to bottlenecks and the inability of legacy storage to meet performance requirements.
