What is a forklift upgrade?

A forklift upgrade is a complete overhaul of an IT infrastructure. Old and outdated storage systems are ripped out and replaced with newly purchased technology. The process is complex, wasteful, and time-consuming. Forklift upgrades are driven by architectural incompatibilities between storage generations or by limitations in scale-out architectures that can’t add new nodes to existing arrays or clusters.

What is a non-disruptive upgrade?

A non-disruptive upgrade is a software upgrade, hardware expansion, and/or component (like a controller, blade, or chassis) replacement that doesn’t impact data availability or performance. In an ideal scenario, it means no downtime, no data migrations, and no performance degradations.

What is Ever Modern?

Ever Modern is a program designed to keep  Evergreen//Forever and Evergreen//Flex customers always modern and never obsolete. It delivers upgraded controllers (for FlashArray products) or blades (for FlashBlade products) every three years upon renewal of an Evergreen subscription for an additional three years at no additional cost. For the Everpure//E™ family of products, this renewal cycle is every six years.

For Evergreen//Forever and Evergreen//Flex customers who purchase a qualifying capacity expansion, Ever Agile offers a trade in credit for swapping existing controllers or blades to new, upgraded ones. These upgrades reset the applicable three- or six-year clock under Ever Modern.
